NSS 2011: CREATURES GALORE

This post is part of an ongoing round up of my favorite vendors at this year's National Stationery Show. Head here to find out more about the series.

There were lots of wonderful designs this year that featured cute characters and creatures. I love the bold, almost vintage style of the cards at Fugu Fugu Press. I mean, it is hard not to smile when you come across a card that has a giant red heart full of well wishes. I also love the flexibility of the Fugu designs: these could be used as thank yous, as anniversary cards, as birthday cards . . . . the possibilities are endless!

Check out Fugu Fugu Press here.

Egg Press never fails to deliver some serious eye candy. This year was no exception. I love the new holiday designs (Nice rack! is really hilarious), the birthday cards, the Alvin Lustig-like patterns, and the pop-out earring cards. Brilliant! And I am super excited to hear that a revamp of their wedding offerings is in the works. I can't wait!

Check out the Egg Press goodies here.

Just like Egg Press, the Ink + Wit booth always seems to be full of products that I want in my possession pronto. The lovely and super kind owner Tara told she is starting to sell her awesome rubber stamps singly (last year they were in sets) and is getting great feedback. No wonder! The designs are fabulous. I totally must own that recipe stamp. And how great would it be to give that bear book plate stamp to a new Mom with a couple of baby books? Adorable. The Ink + Wit cards, posters, and wrapping, of course, were also not to be missed. Brava Tara!

NSS 2012: OLD FAVORITES

This post is part of an ongoing series of wrap ups from this year's National Stationery Show. Please forgive any discoloration or graininess of the photos (the lighting in the Javits Center stinks!) and check out all the other NSS posts here.

Happy 2011 folks! I hope you had a great holiday; I know I did! I ended up extending my vacation a bit and taking some extra time away from the blog because . . . drumroll please . . . I got engaged! So I took a couple more days away from technology to enjoy the moment and celebrate with family and friends. It was great.

Anyway, I thought I would kick off 2011 with a note about the amazing collection of calendars and planners on offer by one of my favorite stationers (see here) Egg Press. They have just teamed up with Blue Sky to produce a line of prettily patterned calendars for Target! The prices are very reasonable—between $7.99 and $16.99—and you can find that at your local Target (but not on their website) or at the Blue Sky website here. Blue Sky is also offering some goodies designed by SusyJack*, one of my favorite blogs/stationery labels. Between the two lines you are sure to find something that suits you.

LOVE, NOTED

VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS

As a stationery nerd, I have to say that my favorite part of Valentine's Day (besides cuddling with my sweetie, of course!) is picking out the right card for the right person and dropping it in the mail as a little surprise. Remember when we used to give everyone in our class a little valentine? Why does that have to stop? I would love to be able to send a note of love/friendship to everyone in my life . . . wouldn't you?

If you are looking for cards that are sure to make someone smile, the companies listed above—Egg Press, Walk Up Press, Fugu Fugu Press, Rifle Paper Co.—never fail to deliver. I am particularly in love with the heart shaped Egg Press cards and Rifle's 'You're a Fox' card. Too cute!

Have a great weekend all! Make sure to enter our delicious Valentine's Day giveaway here! See you back here with more 'obsessive images' on Monday!

NATIONAL STATIONERY SHOW

NSS PREVIEW: RIFLE

On this rainy Tuesday I am headed waaaaaaay across town to check out the National Stationery Show (NSS)! For paper and stationery nerds like me, the NSS is the biggest ticket of the year. The HUGE event plays host to over 900 companies that sell stationery, wrapping supplies, cards, and other supplies. It also attracts the biggest buyers out there, everyone from ABC Home to Kate's Paperie. I am getting giddy just thinking about it!

I plan to take lots of pictures and have lots to tell you this week once I get back. But until then you can see a sneak preview of one of the most anticipated new vendors---Rifle Paper Co.---here and here. You can also check out the vendors on my "must see" list (in no particular order) at their websites below. More to come tomorrow!

NSS 2011

NSS: ALBERTINE PRESS & ANGELA LIGUORI

As I mentioned yesterday, I am sneaking over the National Stationery Show today to check things out before it closes this afternoon. I can't wait to see what all my favorite vendors have on tap for the new year: susyjack*, egg press, angela ligouri, and more!

I will be posting some recaps over the next couple days. Hope you like them!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Since both my parents' birthdays are this week (Dad on Wednesday, Mom on Saturday), I have been keeping my eye out for cute and fun birthday cards. I absolutely adore these patterned letterpress beauties from Egg Press. At $5 each, you can find them all (and much much more) here.

BUSY BEE!

I have been running around all day today trying to cull sources for my ongoing research papers (including one on the handsome man above: Robert Rauschenberg) and thus have shirked my posting duties.  As a tease until tomorrow please check out the lovely Egg Press Calendar (also shown above) now on sale here.  I may or may not have bought one for myself early this morning as a little treat . . . .
