MORE LITERARY LOVE

Even deeper than my obsession with cover design is my love of great illustration . . . which seems to be most prevalent in children's books.  I have decided that my children (when I have them years and years and years from now) should only own well-illustrated and creative kid's books.  I am slowly accumulating a collection to insure my success with this goal.

Have you ever bought a book just for the amazing cover art?  Yeah, half the time that is how I make my decisions.

So imagine my glee when I came across a website that provides a library of graphically orgasmic book jackets which is searchable (is that a word?) by author, title, designer etc.  It is a great place to glean some inspiration or simply find your next bedside read.  Check out the "Book Cover Archive" here. 

THE GOTHIC HEART

I really like this tarry  heart-shaped mass of constellations.  Created by graphic designer and illustrator Benbo George,  I think I like this piece because it seems like a hopeful kind of goth.  Is that oxymoronic?

STILL HAVE THANK YOU NOTES TO WRITE?

Still need to get off that obligatory note to your aunt or grandparent?  Somehow I think that writing thank you's would be a lot more enjoyable if you had these swanky monogramed notes to write them on.    Unfortunately, being couture letterpress cards, they are really really expensive . . . Sigh.

Maybe some rich relative will gift them so they can get one back as a thank you . . .

They are laser printed tags sold in the Etsy shop "elles" for a very reasonable price.  Wouldn't you smile if you opened a little envelope or present containing one of these bright little numbers?  I may just have to buy a set for myself . . .

RETURNING TO THE REAL WORLD

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday and new year!  I am finally re-joining the real world after two weeks of reading, movie watching, eating, traveling: all-around relaxation.  I also did a little photographing (as evidenced by the above polaroid of my family's lit christmas tree) - which you will be seeing more of over the coming weeks.
