THE WEDDING FILES: HONEYMOON RECAP, PART ONE

        

As you may remember, last month I went on my honeymoon to Iceland. It was one of the most spectacularly beautiful, eerie, and exciting places I have ever seen. As I mentioned here, I somehow managed to take over 3000 photos on the trip and so have been a little slow about sorting and sharing them with you.

Here's my first crack at it: the windows of Iceland. Though most of the houses around Iceland are modest, if not a little rough around the edges, I was amazed at how beautiful the windows were. Without fail, each one boasted either lovely lace curtains or delightful little trinkets, making for wonderful little displays. Combine that with the reflectivity of the glass and the cool, blue light and you have some pretty magical scenes.

THE WEDDING FILES: HAPPY HONEYMOON NEWS

Guess what? My hubby-to-be and I have finally decided: we are going to Iceland for our honeymoon! I have been swooning over photos of the beautiful, exotic land for some time now and am absolutely ecstatic to be embarking on this adventure to kick off the start of my marriage. I mean, look at this place! It's spectacular!

I am so excited to get over there in September and take some more incredible photos to show you, but in the meantime check out more images here and find the map above here.

THE WEDDING FILES: HAPPY HONEYMOON NEWS, PART TWO

Remember last week when I told you how I had been swooning over photos of Iceland for a while? Well I wasn't kidding when I said they were everywhere. Just this morning I stumbled across this great post on the NYTimes' blog, Lens, about a new documentary being filmed in the country. Artists Lindsay Blatt and Paul Taggart have decided to film the beautiful age-old autumnal custom of rounding up Iceland's wild horses--a breed found only on the island country that has a unique and fiercely protected genetic makeup. 


The film looks beautiful and (if possible) makes me even more excited to embark on this adventure with my fiance. If you would like to learn more about the project you can read the article here and contribute to their Kickstarter project here.

I'M BACK, BABY!

Phew! Who knew getting married was such a whirlwind? We had an absolutely amazing day and even more amazing honeymoon in Iceland. I can't wait to share some of the 3000 (yes, 3000!) photos I took on the trip.

But until I manage to process and organize those, I will be doing some more of my short and sweet posts to get you back in the swing of things. That said, I have been dying to share this crazy nail art with you by the artist Alice Bartlett. It seems Bartlett went to a hobby shop in search of inspiration and she came out with astro turf and miniature figures for model making. Adding these to her lovely nails she created tiny vignettes on her fingers on one hand and photographed the scenes with her other hand. Cool, right?

REALLY RAD RIFLE

I love Rifle Paper Co. products. No secret there! But I have never had the pleasure of owning one of their beautiful, elegant, illustrated calendars. With my honeymoon travel on the brain (Iceland here we come!), I am positively swooning over Rifle's new city calendars. Can't you picture having one of these on your wall to do a little mental traveling at your desk everyday? I would use it to inspire my travel bucket list with Istanbul and Cairo both very near the top . . .
