ROYAL WEDDING RIDICULOUSNESS

WHAT DESERVES YOUR ATTENTION

Did you get up early to watch the Royal Wedding today? Not me! Honestly it seems like I am the only one but really all I needed to see what a picture of Kate's dress, her walking down the aisle and a picture of Will. I think the news show run a highlight reel for people like me, in and out.

So I am sharing some of the cheekier wedding paraphernalia this morning. The above chart (which we should follow!) is from my fabulous friend Ian's blog.

RYOJI IKEDA: THE TRANSFINITE

Anyone else excited about Ryoji Ikeda's upcoming exhibition at the Park Avenue Armory? It will be open from May 20 through June 11. Here are the details:

Following critically acclaimed installations by Ernesto Neto and Christian Boltanski, Ryoji Ikeda has been selected by the Armory for its third annual visual art commission in the Wade Thompson Drill Hall. Ikeda creates a visual and sonic environment where visitors are submerged in an extreme illustration of projected and synchronized data. His work uses scale, light, shade, volume, shadow, electronic sounds, and rhythm to flood the senses. In choreographing vast amounts of digital information, Ikeda conjures up a transformative environment in which visitors confront data on a scale that defies comprehension, experiencing the infinite.

(You can see how much I love the Armory's events here, here, and here).

Sight Unseen just did a studio visit with (my favorite) Baggu. It's awesome to see their space and read about some of the inspiration behind their designs.

THE WEDDING FILES: VIDEO INSPIRATION

I am hoping to make a short video 'save the date' to put on our wedding website (Anyone know the best and most economical way to edit video? I have used Final Cut Pro in college but can't afford it now!). These are my most recent (stylistic) sources of inspiration . . .

I am pretty proud of the wrapping job I did for my mom's Mother's Day present. I layered some tissue paper, made some of these awesome tissue paper flowers, and attached them to the package with strips of green painters tape that I cut into leaf shapes. Pretty cool, no?

I am adding them to this group of packages in case you want some more inspiration.

FROM THE ARCHIVES: SPRING FLOWERS

You know what one of my most dreaded parts of spring is? Finals. I have to write a 25 page presentation this weekend. You know what one my favorite parts of spring is? Flowers. This weekend I will be combining both in hopes of getting through the writing alive and sane.

Hope you have a great weekend!

THE WEDDING FILES: STAMP

I don't really need an excuse to add to my enormous stationery and papergoods collection, but a wedding is a good reason to get a little fancy. Here is a small roundup of some of the beautiful custom return address stamps I have been drooling over for the invites on my big day.
