A CRAFTY HALLOWEEN: DIY IDEAS

My family have never been particularly big on Halloween, especially the spooky-scary side of things. But the amount of clever, chic and downright fun DIY Halloween projects that are making the blog rounds this year may have me singing a different tune. Full of bright colors and googly eyes, it seems that these projects are pushing for a sillier version of All Hallows Eve than previously possible. Since I already gave you a rundown of all my favorite crafts for Halloween, I thought I would get you in the holiday spirit today by sharing the truly weird, wacky world we live in via these crazy photographs of unusual species. Taken as part of the new book Animal Earth, these beautiful/bizarre organisms hail from the deep ocean and other adverse climates to represent real life creepy crawlies. Perfect for a holiday devoted to all things odd and slimy, right?

My first year living in New York I shared an apartment with a roommate. She was a super cool girl who was obsessed with Halloween. Literally, she would start planning her costume and her wild Halloween party months in advance; the spider webs went over the cabinets in our kitchen in September! I am going back to Williamstown this evening to introduce my boyfriend (a Harvard grad) to the crazy awesomeness that is a Williams College Homecoming.  Thankfully the weather report predicts sun, my instincts predict a giant beat-down for Wesleyan (I am sorry, ahead of time, all you cardinals fans.  Bring your ice packs because you'll be sore!) and my costume belies a night of Halloween/Homecoming debauchery.  The best part, though?  All my favorite people in one place!  Here's to a festive weekend!
