For all those fontiphiles (is that a word?) out there, you must check out this article at Hoefler & Frere-Jones. It details the history of the paragraph symbol (also known as the "pilcrow"), while using examples from some of their (Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones) beautiful typography portfolio. I particularly enjoy Topaz and Verlag.
